Living Eggs

BDS students are thoroughly enjoying the Living Eggs programme in our school.  It is very exciting.  The eggs arrived Monday.  On Tuesday one hatched and another 5 overnight.

The eggs.

Newly hatched and resting.

Help! I can't turn over.

Hello from the little brown lady.  I'm tired out from the white boy.

Nice and warm.

The empty shell.

Trying to come out.

Look carefully for the chick trying to emerge.

So.... cute.

I'm listening!

Victorian Toys Presentations

As part of our Inquiry topic the junior children have been learning about past and present toys. Classes were able to have a hands on experience this week when Richard Lees shared his amazing assortment of toys that he has made and collected over the years. Mr Lees has worked as a curator at the Howick Historical Village and has a wealth of knowledge to share with the children. The children enjoyed being able to play with the toys and discuss the materials that were used in the construction of the toys that their great grandparents might have played with.
